Rajasthan: 5 of Family, Including A Pregnant Woman, Run Over by SUV; Driver Absconding

In a tragic road incident reported from Rajasthan’s Degana, four members of a family, including a pregnant woman, were killed after an SUV ran over them, the police said.

According to an NDTV report, the deceased has been identified as Chotu Ram, his wife Suman, their two-year-old son Hrithik and another woman of the family. The vehicle reportedly hit them while they were waiting for a bus.

All of them died after a Scorpio hit them in Rajasthan’s Degana early on Sunday morning. Suman was eight months pregnant, officials said.

The victims were labourers and were on their way to a wedding at the time when the accident took place as they were hired by the event organisers for some work

The driver fled the spot after the accident and is still absconding. Meanwhile, the police launched an investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, the police handed over to their family.

In a similar incident, six members of a family from Bihar died when their car was hit by a speeding truck here in the early hours of Sunday. Police said the car was headed for Prayagraj when the accident occurred on the Karjag-Kerakat road in the Gaura Badshahpur police station area around 2:30 am.

Three other members of the family are undergoing treatment in Varanasi, police said.

The deceased have been identified as Gajdhar Sharma (60) and his son Anish Sharma (35), Jawahar Sharma (57) and his 17-year-old son, Sonam (34) and Rinku (32), all residents of Bihar’s Sitamarhi district.
