A man in Punjab’s Mohali was crushed to death when a speeding Mercedes car rammed into a shop where he was sleeping on Saturday night.
At around 2 am, the white Mercedes CLA class car, which was allegedly overspeeding, crashed into the shop and ran over the victim identified as Prakash Kumar.
The shop and the wall of a nearby school were also destroyed in the accident. Police said that the locals initially thought it was an explosion.
The driver, however, fled the scene and is still at large.
The locals confronted the police on Monday morning when they reached the spot to recover the car, demanding the arrest of the accused before towing away the vehicle. People accused the police of inaction in the case.
