A man from Telangana’s Nirmal district allegedly killed his girlfriend with an axe on Thursday afternoon after she started avoiding him over an arranged marriage, that her family had planned for him.
In the incident that took place in the Khanapur town of the district, the deceased’s sister, who was with her during the attack was also injured.
According to an India Today report, the victim Alekhya, was stepping out of a tailoring institute at around 1.30 pm on Thursday when her boyfriend, Jukanti Srikanth, attacked her with an axe.
After being attacked, the woman died on the spot while her sister, who was accompanying her during the time of the attack, sustained injuries. The accused, Srikanth fled the scene after the attack and is currently on the run.
