Video: Massive chariot collapses during temple festival in Tamil Nadu

A 60-foot-long chariot, built for the Mayana Kollai festival, collapsed in Vellore in Tamil Nadu on Saturday.

The chariot was expected to carry the idol of Angalaparameswari Amman along the bank of river Palaru, as part of celebrations of Mayana Kollai festival, an event to honour the dead.

As devotees tried to swirl the chariot, it lost balance and the top portion collapsed, trapping Vimalraj Venmani, 30, under it.

Onlookers rescued Vimalraj, who was then admitted to hospital and is undergoing treatment.
